Once upon a time a story was released that the Farrelly brothers were intending to make a movie about the three stooges and managed to secure Jim Carrey, Benicio Del Toro, and Sean Penn and pretty much set the internet afire with excitement of the great casting of the iconic characters known as Larry, Curly, and Moe. And then the movie tripped and fell into development hell and wasn’t heard of for many years causing all of these stars to bow out of participation. Well, the movie picked up steam again earlier this year and managed to film with Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes, and Will Sasso picking up the dropped parts. Today we get our first look at them in character.

The Three Stooges, which hits theaters on April 4, 2012, is crafted to look like three Stooges shorts laid end to end. Here’s the plot:
While trying to save their childhood orphanage, Moe, Larry, and Curly inadvertently stumble into a murder plot and wind up starring in a reality TV show.
They look the parts well enough, but the absence of Jim Carrey and co. knocked my expectations very very low a very very long time ago. This photo does bring some re-assurance but the Farrelly brothers are pretty inconsistent with making movies that make me laugh my ass off so this poster leaves me indifferent and sticking with a “wait and see” attitude, how about you?
