Matt Reeves WILL direct ‘The Twilight Zone’

Matt Reeves has slightly interesting history as the guy who began directing movies at 8yrs old and befriending J.J. Abrams as a teenager, not to mention hitting the ground running with his feature film directorial debut called “Cloverfield”. Yeah, just slightly interesting. Additional interesting news is that the guy has just been selected to direct the Twilight Zone movie.

After Warner Bros. reportedly had a shortlist for their upcoming Twilight Zone feature film that included Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay, Alfonso Cuaron, Rupert Wyatt and David Yates, they’ve now landed on their choice. And it isn’t any of them…
…Cloverfield and Let Me In director Matt Reeves has been selected and is expected to sign on and finish the deal next week. Scripted by Jason Rothenberg and Rand Ravich, the film have one storyline and director, unlike the 1983 version with parts helmed by Steven Spielberg, John Landis, Joe Dante and George Miller.

I’m a little surprised that they chose Reeves but I definitely understand the decision. Cloverfield was a very imaginative and highly enjoyable movie on intitial viewing and I believe that he has the artists eye needed to approach this kind of movie and help develop and maintain the atmosphere that the movie should evoke. Again, I’m surprised by this choice but the fact that they’ve chosen him is re-assuring for me and will make me want to keep an eye out for this movie throughout its production.
