Mickey Rourke is NOT in the Expendables 2

In somewhat surprising news it seems that there’s actually someone out that that doesn’t want to be in the new Expendables movie and more surprising is that it’s actor Mickey Rourke. It seems he has a much different gig in mind in place of re-joining the cast of action elite.

Don’t expect to see the tattoo artist Tool played by Mickey Rourke in The Expendables, to show up in the sequel because Deadline said Rourke won’t return for the sequel.
The reason is because he was in the first film only as a favor to his buddy Sly Stallone but it’s not like there’s going to be a big pay for him to reprise his role again..
The site also said that he’s currently in talks to star with Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken in SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS…
Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke Christopher Walken and Colin Farrell will star in a dark comedy directed by the filmmaker whose film, In Bruges, gave Farrell his Golden Globe win
SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS is from Oscar nominated writer/director Martin McDonagh. The story is about “a screenwriter (Farrell) struggling for inspiration for his script, “Seven Psychopaths,” who gets drawn into the dog kidnapping schemes of his oddball friends (Rockwell and Walken). Things take a turn for the worse when a gangster’s (Rourke) mutt goes missing”

I see why he’s chosen a different direction! Rourke is not ashamed to admit that he sometimes chooses roles based on the payout and if he only did the first movie as a favor then I’m not surprised that he’s decided to move on to greener pastures. I don’t think that this will have a strong impact on the film as Sly has managed to assemble a more than impressive cast for this project and I don’t foresee that the movie will suffer due to his absence.
