Jeremy Renner offers update on The Bourne Legacy

I somehow forgot that Jeremy Renner is starring in the upcoming continuation of the “Bourne” franchise, mostly because I’ve seen his face in so many other projects lately that this one got lost in the crowd. Either way we get a welcome reminder that it is still a project on his plate and gives some insight into what we can expect.

My character is called Aaron Cross, but he ends up having a bunch of different names. For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it’s a new program and new characters.
When the actor was asked if the Treadstone program from the Jason Bourne books and movies is still involved, Renner said,
Yeah, it’s that same deal, it’s just a new set of agents with a different leash. It’s the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger. The differences are pretty vast but you’ll know it’s a Bourne movie.

It’s good to get some clarification that they will continue the involvement of the fine folks from Treadstone. I don’t have any apprehension with this project and think Renner is a pretty good choice to be the face of the franchise for a bit. I really liked Matt Damon in the Bourne movies and hope that this isn’t the final nail in the coffin for his character, but if it is there’s few better choices to pass the torch to than Renner. The movie is making all the right moves right now and managed to secure a really good cast for this movie including Rachel Weisz, Ed Nortan and Albert Finney. I’ll be sure to share any more tidbits of info that come my way.
