Michael Fassbender may be Aranofsky’s Noah

It’s no secret that Darren Aranofsky wanted actor Christian Bale to take on the title role for his purposed Noah film and hoped that the attraction of a big name star like Bale would help him get the movie financed and created. Bale is a busy guy. As such the word on the netz is that new super-busy actor Michael Fassbender may be able to squeeze in the role where Bale cannot.

Christian Bale has chosen not to star in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah because he is too busy shooting Terrence Malick’s next film. Variety (via The Film Stage) is reporting that there is some light at the end of the tunne and that Michael Fassbender is now being sought for the role. A deal has yet to be finalized, but the Shame star “has discussed the part with Aronofsky.” Things are looking really good for the deal. Fassbender has been given some extra time for Londongrad, which fits perfectly for the planned start date of Noah this spring.

This is a pretty surprising turn of events considering that I’ve associated Bale’s name with this project ever since I caught wind of it, but a welcome surprise. One good actor traded in for another is fine by me and if they do make this film I’m sure Fassbender would be able to give just as much effort and equally memorable performance. I’m really surprised, but excited about this news in hopes that we can see Aranofsky work on something he seems so passionate about creating.
