RUMOR: Ice Cube in talks for a 4th Friday

There are a couple of movies where fans will follow the principle actors and directors and harass them incessantly for a follow up or sequel to a specific fan favorite film. Friday was one of those movies that went on to make 2 popular sequels that were somewhat successful but lacking Chris Tucker’s participation. Well today we learn that there may actually be some talks occurring about creating another entry and including the return of Chris Tucker.

Deadline is reporting, and subsequently confirming rumors, that there is indeed a fourth feature being worked on in the Friday franchise. The news first broke when actor Tiny Lister revealed that he’s beginning to chat with Ice Cube to get moving on a fourth film in the franchise, which Cube is currently in talks with New Line to write, produce, and star in, with the possibility of also directing.

Chris Tucker may also return for the film according to TMZ, which is interesting to note as the actor is slowly starting to make a return to the big screen.

This is one of those rumors that never dies, but I hope is true. I love the Friday series and would love to see Chris Tucker return to reprise his role of Smokey. With that said, I truly don’t believe that Chris would return. He has done everything possible to avoid returning to the character in his career, and on multiple occasions has denied any interest in doing so. I love the idea of another entry and wouldn’t mind seeing Mike Epps return to be the bulk of the comic relief as he slowly grew into a staple in the franchise as well. Can’t wait to find out if this movie progresses beyond talks and will keep you guys posted.
