Thor 2 has a new director taking over for director Patty Jenkins who decided to have “creative differences” and then walk away from this whole ‘Thor’ business. Surely, it’s her loss and quite possibly our gain as we have a new director taking over the job and his name is Alan Taylor.

Marvel Studios has found its Thor 2 director. I’m told that Marvel has set Alan Taylor, who was widely rumored to be on the short list to replace Patty Jenkins. Taylor is an accomplished TV director whose recent credits include Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and Nurse Jackie, and he directed the feature Palookaville.
If you recognize the name then it’s with good reason as Taylor has been making a name for himself by directing episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire. I, personally, love Game of Thrones and mentioned that Marvel should look at that show for a replacement for Jenkins not too long ago and I still think it’s a great decision because those guys really nailed the fantasy, mysticism, tone, and grittiness to help further propel Thor 2 as a great movie. Really just got more pumped by this decision and it could be a far greater director choice than Jenkins. What do you guys think, can this guy make a better Thor 2 than Jenkins? Who still wanted Branagh involved in this?
