I don’t want to talk about the drama surrounding Mel Gibson’s life. Well, I do just not in this post. Instead I want to talk about a movie he filmed that has yet to see the light of day but looks to be coming in 2012. The movie also stars Peter Stormare, doesn’t have a U.S. distributor, but has the following synopsis:
Source: The Film Stage
A career criminal (Gibson) nabbed by Mexican authorities is placed in a tough prison where he learns to survive with the help of a 9-year-old boy.
Seems like career resuscitation to me. It’s been quite a while since I saw a gang of stuntmen running and flailing at the sight of Gibson and I enjoyed his last action film, Edge of Darkness, a bit more than I anticipated. I typically enjoy watching Gibson in those type of roles. I have a feeling that since his attempt at using drama to mount a comeback in ‘The Beaver’ bombed he’d returning to the action film genre to see if he can gain some footing there.
Say what you want about the man but he knows some things about putting together a good movie. That and I’m a Peter Stormare fanboy. I’m actually pretty interested just to see what the box office take might be.
