Spartacus star Jai Courtney will join Bruce Willis in ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’

A 5th Die Hard film was announced a while ago and the powers that be have chosen that the next entry in the franchise will be a father/son film. Yep, we’re getting another one of those…

In a press release, it was announced that Courtney would play Bruce Willis’ son in the iconic action franchise Die Hard. The next movie, called A Good Day to Die Hard, will see McClane making a trip to Moscow. His son is actually much like himself even though there have been years of estrangement, and he could be “more of a hardass than his father.”

As always the McClane’s will be working to stop something and keep the world safe for democracy. Though the two have their differences, they have to find a way to get over those issue and keep each other alive.

The Australian actor got his start in theater, graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He then had bit roles in Packed To the Rafters and All Saints. Courtney is known for getting the part of Varro in the Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. He also will be in the upcoming One Shot next to Tom Cruise.

I know that the idea of the “father/son mix” may roll the eyes of many, especially after the last Indiana Jones film, but this could be a good thing if the writing is done well and Jai is able to deliver a strong performance. I’m reserving judgment until more information is released and maintaining optimism until I find a valid reason to do otherwise.
