Idris Elba wants more Heimdall in Thor 2

Idris Elba is a busy guy. The guy has so much on his plate that he’s virtually homeless after moving out of his home to live on various movie sets for the next year or so, which isn’t so bad when you think about it. He’s got Pacific Rim, and a Nelson Mandela film lined up and somewhere in between those he wants to reprise and expand his role as Heimdall in the next Thor movie.

IDRIS ELBA:  Yes, I am.  I’m definitely going to do my man in a suit film.

What are you most excited about getting to do in the sequel?

ELBA:  I’d just like to get to know him a bit more.  Who is Heimdall?  He guards the gate.  Okay.  Is there anything else?  I don’t know what is in the script because I haven’t read it yet.  But, the audience has responded to Asgard and wants to know more about who lives there and what it’s about.  I’m sure, if they do that, Heimdall will be featured more.

With everything that you have lined up, how will that fit into your schedule?

ELBA:  My schedule is so packed this year, to the point where I really don’t have an address anymore.  I’m going to be living on film sets for the next year.  I literally moved out of a place and was not going to get a new one.  My schedule is really packed, but I’m going to do Thorafter I play [Nelson] Mandela.

How do you expand the role for Heimdall? The movie is about Thor and Loki and continuing where they left off in Avengers and maybe the warriors three and Anthony Hopkins. I enjoy seeing Elba on screen but this isn’t his vehicle, he’s in the passenger side…

… but I do want to see more of this Elba guy. Man Crush? who said that???? I just think the guy is talented. He was a pretty good Heimdall, Roque, General Stone, Tango, and Luther. Ok Ghost Rider Spirits of Vengeance wasn’t one of his high points but ever good actor has at least 1 hiccup, right? Nobody bring up the movie with Beyonce. Seriously.
