‘Tis a sad day for those fans still holding out hope that Sam Raimi was still working on making that World of Warcraft movie that he signed on for back in 2009. It’s a shame because he sounded like he had some really great ideas for the film and since showing off his first post-spidey film “Oz, the Great and Powerful” it gave the impression that he had a handle on this whole ‘fantasy world’ stuff. Unfortunately Oz is a great delimiter as well as the source of the issue as to why he’s not making WoW anymore:
“…They don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director. They had to start making it,” said Raimi.
Considering that Raimi has been working on Oz for well over a year and Oz seems a lot closer to release than WoW, one has to wonder who’s directing the movie and how far along are they? I mean, I don’t think studios would just part ways out of spite and they did have other people interested in directing a movie adaptation. Maybe now that we’re helping make this information public knowledge somebody involved with the film will offer an update? I’ll keep you posted…
