Pixar Pixar Pixar. I love these guys and am typically interested in everything they produce and now I’m learning that they’re interested in creating a sequel for what is my personal favorite Pixar film, Finding Nemo. The plan is to have John Carter director, Andrew Stanton, to helm the film and wash away some of the negativity he’s picked up over his last movie. It was excellent, just didn’t make any money.
It is believed that part of the filmmaker’s deal was the promise that he would get to direct another live-action feature, despite the box office failure of John Carter. No story details have been released for this animated follow-up. It isn’t known if Finding Nemo stars Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, Alexander Gould, Willem Dafoe will reprise their roles.
Newcomer Victoria Strause is writing the screenplay, with Lindsey Collins on board as a producer. It isn’t known when production will begin.
Finding Nemo was Stanton’s first solo directorial film and it’s a novel idea to have him return and direct its sequel. I really enjoyed the first film which found a way to release shortly before the birth of my first son and many first time fathers that year will agree that the movie is a fixture in our hearts. The idea of revisiting the worlds and characters is fun and I can’t wait to find out the approach they take with the film.
Yes, it’s immediately on my radar and should be on yours too. I’m gonna keep snooping around for more news on this one and I’ll let you guys know what I find…
