That new Robocop movie is really picking up steam and leapfrogging higher on my radar due to some pleasantly surprising news about the film in recent weeks. Heck, we’ve already gotten a viral video for a movie that I don’t believe has even started filming yet. Anyhoo with SDCC in full swing we’ve now also received an official synopsis for the film that’s also pleasantly surprising due to its familiarity:
Plot: The year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at thecenterof robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology tothe homefront. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
I don’t think there’s much more I can ask for as far as the story is concerned. Don’t re-invent the wheel, just polish it up every once in a while. This is pleasant news and hopefully we get more information about this reboot before the convention is over. I’ll keep ya posted…
