Monsters University is a Pixar film that I’m looking forward to. Sure, I kinda looked forward to Brave when it was initially revealed but a lot of that excitement kinda washed away when I discovered that the film was a bit more tame than I’d hoped. Oh well. If Pixar wants to do tame then I’m fine with that but I prefer my tame with a monster or Nemo on the side. Billy Crystal has been interviewed recently and brought up some plot details to look forward to for Monsters University.
“[Mike and Sully] end up in the same fraternity where they have this scare competition — like Greek Games in college,” Crystal told the magazine. “They have to mobilize a group, sort of like Revenge of the Nerds-monsters, and get them ready to be scary.”
He added that, in the June 21, 2013 release, “They’re 17 and 18 years old in the script. My guy has a retainer, even.”
Revenge of the Nerds? Greek games in college? It’s childish. It’s infantile and immature. It’s not being made with adults in mind as the target audience… but why am I so excited about this? The idea of these two characters, Mike and Sully, pulling frat jokes and living the college life just seems strongly, yet strangely, appealing despite how tame it will surely be (as far as college films).
They need to let this guy talk more often…
