I got an e-mail this morning from the fine folks at Air New Zealand to notify me of a new video they put together aptly titled “An Unexpected Briefing”. You’re forgiven if the play on words forces you to raise an eyebrow in curiousity as I pretty much did the same exact then when reading the e-mail. What is an Unexpected Briefing? I could say but some things in life are best left to be experienced rather than described:
Air New Zealand partnered with WETA Workshop on a brand new Hobbit inspired Safety Video. It features cameo appearances including Sir Peter Jackson. Visit http://www.airnzcode.com/hobbitmovie to Find and Unlock the Elvish Code for your chance to win one of six double passes to the World Premiere Screening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in New Zealand on the 28th of November 2012
Air New Zealand partnered with Weta Workshop in the creation of this Hobbit-themed safety video that features cameos from Gollum, Peter Jackson, Fili the Dward (Dean O’Gorman), J.R.R. Tolkien’s great-grandsons Mike and Royd Tolkien, and TheOneRing.net‘s very own Larry Curtis and Clifford Broadway.
This video is adorable. I initially didn’t want to like it, because it seems educational, but gotdammit they found the perfect Trojan Horse. Not only that they coupled this video with some contest with an incredibly awesome grand prize that awards a trip to Hobbiton. No, not really Hobbiton but the next best thing by giving a free trip to attend the World Premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington.
Alongside “An Unexpected Briefing”, Air New Zealand is also offering a very unique Global Sweepstakes,
“Find and Unlock the Elvish Code”:
- Win a once-in-a-lifetime Middle-earth experience by counting the number of times the Elvish code appears in the safety video
- Then visit www.airnzcode.com/
hobbitmovie for the chance to win a trip to New Zealand to attend the World Premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington.
Prize also includes 6 days accommodation in New Zealand; Hobbiton movie set tours, a visit to Weta Cave, and more.
