Now there’s some speculation that January Jones, who donned the white negligee in First Class, may not be returning for the next film in the franchise: Days of Future Past. Besides the fact that her character has absolutely nothing to the storyline, there was no evidence that her character would be returning in the first place and to further that notion we have word from Ms. Jones herself about the situation:
“I don’t know that I’m in it, I don’t think Emma’s in this one. Well they haven’t told me if I am [Laughs]. I wouldn’t put it past them though, I got the script for the first one on the airplane on the way there. It’s called DAYS OF FUTURE PAST I think, and I think it’s more about James [McAvoy] and Michael [Fassbender] and then Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellan], and I think it’s gonna go back and forth with those so I don’t think Emma’s in those bits. I don’t know, I really don’t know.”
Whatever. Good riddance. I like looking at January Jones in that outfit but her character was written with the personality of a two by four so I’m fine with the idea of her character not returning.
Furthermore, why the hell was January Jones cast in the role in the first place? I’ve been looking for an excuse to share my thoughts on the casting of the character, and since we’re on the subject, I hope they don’t bring back the character but if they do bring her back then they should re-cast and go with someone who would better reflect the white queen, namely Sarah Michelle Geller. She would own this role and provide a much better impression than Jones was able to with what she had. Cruel intentions, her TV show Ringer, oh and that little show named Buffy all reflect that Emma Frost is a real person and has been masquerading as Sarah Michelle Geller this whole time.
That is all.
