Nicholas Cage had a string of mediocre movies thanks to big brother highlighting his inability to pay income taxes but after a few years of getting debt out the way its inevitable that Cage will take on the roles that may have a smaller paycheck but a much larger heart. Today we get a good look at cage as ‘Joe’ from a film with the same name.
In the dirty unruly world of small-town Texas, ex-convict Joe Ransom (Cage) has tried to put his dark past behind him and to live a simple life. He works for a lumber company by day, drinks by night. But when 15-year-old Gary (Sheridan) – a kid trying to support his family – comes to town, desperate for work, Joe has found a way to atone for his sins – to finally be someone’s hero. As Joe tries to protect Gary, the pair will take the twisting road to redemption in the hope for a better life in this tough, hard-hitting but incredibly moving story.
Sounds pretty typical, contrived, and predictable. I’m not sure if that’s a bad thing. A string of some decent action movies could easily put Cage back in the limelight and his inclusion in the Expendables 3 and films like this could be the stepping stones out of mediocrity. We’ll see and I’ll keep you posted with any information as soon as its available.
