I am not a huge ‘horror’ guy. I’m down for a good suspense and thriller but something about the site of copious amounts of blood splattered across a scene just makes my stomach turn and usually winds up with me, (don’t tell anyone I told you this) wincing under the blanket during the more intense parts. It’s the reason that you don’t often see me post things from the horror genre but also a genre I’m familiarizing myself with thanks to the Walking Dead’s uncanny ability to desensitize me to the most graphical showings of gore on TV today. As a result I now feel a bit more comfortable with the idea of posting these nausea inducing images:
The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.
This image isn’t any bloodier than we’ve seen in prior stills but the point comes across the same. There’s some gore in that film. I’m still undecided if this is something I wanna run out the door to see and gives me the impression that this will wind up being a film I look for on cable instead, (much to the delight of those Dish Network employees that love to comment), but the film does have a very intriguing cast that makes me kinda want to keep an eye out for it just for the sake of the performances within.
The cast includes Chloe Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, and Ansel Elgort and will release October 18th, 2013.
