Has it really been a decade? I remember the first time I stumbled upon this site and getting into a feverish debate with this guy named John Campea who had the nerve to make a top actors list that not only named ‘Russell Crowe’ as the best actor alive, but had the nerve to not include Denzel Washington on his list! What nerve! I immediately headed into the comments and began setting the guy straight and point out his mistake. I was in college and I had just shuttered the doors on my own website ending my 5 year run as a webmaster and began rejoining the internet world as simply a ‘reader’.
John inspired me of me with his tenacity and unwavering intent to do more. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would one day that I would be running this site! I have so many memories! I decided to share a message I sent to John yesterday with you guys to commemorate the occasion:
10 years ago today you created www.themovieblog.com. Your hard work and tenacity have created opportunities that most of us never thought we would have. Today is the 10 year anniversary of That and I’ve followed your work since that time! From the first time you criticized ‘Seabiscuit’ to your top 5 actors alive list that named Russell Crowe as your number 1, to the release of your very own films ‘Prince of Peace: God of War’ and ‘the Anniversary’. It broke my heart when you left TMB but I was thrilled that you were living the dream of every one of us tapping away on our keyboards from home. You went from home blogging to running the movie blog for AMC! I prayed for your success because you were a pioneer and an inspiration. I remember reading and subsequently praying for a speedy recovery from your heart attack a while back. I selfishly prayed for more insight into the world of film from John Campea! Thank you for being who you are and for not giving up. Thank you for still inspiring! You and I may not always see “eye to eye” but I am a life long fan of yours. It’s been an amazing 10 years and I can’t wait to see what you do next.

It’s all true, John inspired me and Rodney gave me a chance. I’ll do my best to keep this ship afloat for the next 10 years (and maybe get John to share some more reviews with us). Feel free to share anything in the comments! names like Doug Nagy, John Campea, Rodney Brazaeu are forever etched in my mind thanks to this site.
