Christian Bale is back in what appears to be a large scale swords and sandals film directed by the famed Ridley Scott. Ridley Scott set the stage for actor Russelle Crowe with the film Gladiator and while this isn’t the exact same setting the hope is that he can recreate the magic found in that film with Bale.
First thing I notice is that Bale stands out in a crowd. As Moses, someone who is adopted, that may not be an entirely terrible thing except for those who don’t like when historical films get white-washed for Hollywood. Aside from that the film seems to have a lot going fo rit with the scale of the film and what appears to be a much grittier take on the story than I can remember seeing. Some people may be a little tired of biblical stories getting retold thanks to Noah but I think Scott may have something to make this film stand out. It looks great to me and motivated me to actually write something up for this but let me know what you think in the comments.
From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) comes the epic adventure “Exodus: Gods and Kings,” the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.
