Hotel Transylvania 2 TRAILER

The trailer for Hotel Transylvania 2 leaves me optimistic about this kiddie flick’s ability to teach some actual lessons to parents and children alike. Am I going to say something overly serious after watching a two-minute trailer for a kid’s movie filled with goofy monsters including a vampire voiced by Adam Sandler? You bet your bippy I am.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is about Dracula having a red headed little grandson who may not be following in the “family footsteps.” The child don’t got no fangs and his parents want to move him to a neighborhood with less monsters and more regular people, and Dracula just can’t handle it.

Aside from Hotel Transylvania 2’s sickeningly sweet presentation—surely parents will be buying bigger flasks in anticipation—there might be a chance to learn something (Pixar ain’t the only ones who can teach us a thing or two about feelings).

In this “PC” culture, things are constantly changing, more and more groups of people identifying themselves as they see fit. Rachel Dolezal might have lots of people rolling their eyes (and it was her parents who told on her!), but in this evolving landscape of what constitutes who we are versus what others expect us to be, a movie about Dracula with a fangless grandson is sure to touch on love and acceptance (important things, no?). And, hey!, this is about more than the rights of the individual and parents doing what’s best for their children. Dracula doesn’t want his whole family leaving him. Sound familiar, grandma? As we all creep closer to those “golden years” of life, hopefully we will have a loving family to ease the transition, and that they stay close by! You may be in Dracula’s cape soon enough. Wouldn’t it be nice to have your grand kids close to home?

And just look at this cast list! Adam Sandler (who wrote the original and the sequel), Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, Mel Brooks, Keegan-Michael Key, David Spade, Fran Drescher and Chris Kattan all lend their funny voices to help bring laughter out of you and yours. Watch the trailer below with your crazy kids and get excited for the release this Fall. And bring the grand parents, too!
