I am still wrapping my head around this live action adaption for the Jungle Book. My first exposure to story was with the animated Disney adventure so seeing them revisit the classic with a big budget epic looking movie is a LOT to get used to. It’s a big change that I initially was going to dismiss but something in the trailers changed my mind. I want to see this just to discover if they handled the film with care or if its awful enough that I can finally knock another childhood love off the list and fully accept my adulthood. But that trailer.. .and the aesthetics, and on top of that they gave this movie a pretty respectable cast with Christoph Waltz leading the charge alongside Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyongo, Idris Elba, Giancarlo Esposito and Chirstopher Walken. Director Jon Favreau is doing everything possible to make this film appealing to adult me by releasing posters like this:
King Louie? Kaa? You’ve changed! But in a good way, you look good! Great actually! Welcome to adulthood, I hope we never have to part.
