It's that time of the month again, the time to suggest the best movies to see in that have come out this spring. There is a nice variety that March and April have offered. The following list contains releases on Blu-ray/DVD, limited theatrical and VOD. Some of these movies are mainstream, while other are small gems you should see: THE OTTOMAN LIEUTENANT: https://youtu.be/7BJyAgU5Yr8 The Ottoman Lieutenant is one of those under-the-radar movies that you should definitely see. It boasts a really nice cast that includes Josh Hartnett, Michiel Huisman, Hera Hilamar and Ben Kingsley. Hilmar plays an American nurse who decided to travel to as a missionary to the Ottoman Empire region in order to help her doctor friend (Hartnett). Once there, she meets a Turkish officer that she falls in love with. The struggle between loyalty to her friend versus her love interest is putting her at risk at the inception of the oncoming World War I. Huisman is a talented actor who made his mark in The Age of Adeline, while Hartnett is back on screen after being one of the hottest Hollywood stars in the 2000's. The film has interesting characters and there is a compelling love story. It's definitely a buy for fans of romance, war dramas. Fresh off his Oscar nomination he stars in Wolf, a movie where he plays a gambling addicted father to his star basketball recruit son. Shannon is once again very good, but so are Carla Gugino and Taylor John Smith in their respective roles. This movie touches on family dynamic in relation to gambling. It's the kinda stuff that can actually happen in reality. Even the basketball scenes have enough at stake to make them compelling. This is a solid film that will definitely keep up your interests. Wolves is out now On Demand DESPITE THE FALLING SNOW: https://youtu.be/JZzS9MSB5to The film takes place in 1959 Russia during the times of the Cold War. Katya (Rebecca Ferguson) plays and American spy that's tasked with uncovering secrets from big Russian politician Alexander. The twist occurs when Katya falls in love with Alexander, now she has to fight for her love and country and juggle both without getting exposed. This film offers a variety of appealing things, romance, drama, mystery , history and elegant visuals. It is based on a novel, but without even reading the book, the movie has a lot of appeal. It has a little of The Notebook in it mixed with Allied (Brad Pitt movie). Definitely worth a look. Despite the Falling Snow is out now on DVD and Digital TRESPASS AGAINST US: https://youtu.be/vnq8jZejw-s The Cutler (no, not the bad Chicago Bears quarterback) family is a tight knit group of criminals. Brendan Gleeson plays Colby Cutler, the patriarch of the family who is in complete control of them. Michael Fassbender plays Chad, the other Cutler brother who struggles walking the fine line of protecting his family or continuing the criminal ways that Colby urges him to pursue. This film has a mix of shenanigans and intensity. Fassbender and Gleeson are a fine team and work well off each other. This is a well done British crime drama that doesn't hold back. Some strong performances and a plot with some jarring intense moments make Trespass Against Us a worthy buy or rental. Trespass Against Us is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD SHUT IN: https://youtu.be/G7czL2a5R3c Naomi Watts stars as a child psychologist who is stuck in her isolated home with her disabled son during a major snowstorm, but she needs to save a young boy from disappearing. I enjoyed this film. It's one of those psychological thrillers that has you guessing and waiting to see what will happen next. There is a really good twist towards the end of the movie that will surprise you and change the course of the movie. Shut In is a solid thriller that does it's job and keeps you plugged in and surprised, it sure did for me. Idris Elba and Gemma Arterton play an interracial couple that's struggling to keep their relationship intact. Terrific work by Elba as usual, while Arterton shows exactly why she is one of the top British actresses today. The other stories are about a cab driver dealing with depression and a gang member that's trying to leave the life of violence behind. This is a very human movie with everyday issues being the focal point. I really liked the real feel to this film and how it depicted people dealing with a variety of personal issues they are attempting to overcome and the struggles that come with it. 100 Streets is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital MOANA: https://youtu.be/LKFuXETZUsI Moana is unique in the story and characters and unlike most Disney or animated movies in general. How many animated movies have been made about the Samoan island culture? Not many that come to mind. The music is really good. The visuals are excellent and colorful. Most of all the characters are really appealing. Dwayne Johnson electrifies as the charming Maui, while newcomer Auli'i Carvalho voices Moana and sings the hit song "How Far I'll Go". As always in classic Disney movies there are adorable furry sidekicks, a water piglet and a rooster. This is a great family film, kids will love it and adults will be entertained also. He's been on a roll playing some really good characters and delivering outstanding performances, this one is definitely one of them. The movie takes place in post-apocalyptic America, where Drummer is searching for his missing son and estranged wife. There is a powerful film about love and war with a patriotic tone to it. This film came out quietly, but it is definitely one that should be seen. Aside from the terrific performance from LaBeouf, the cast is rounded out by some strong supporting talent that includes Gary Oldman, Kate Mara and Jai Courtney. Kennedy, but not the same case with his wife Jackie Kennedy. Jackie gives a great inside look at the woman behind the iconic president. Majority of the film deals with the aftermath of the assassination of JFK. The film really feels personal in how it delves into the inner thoughts, feelings and overall turmoil that Jackie was dealing with at that time. The sets and costumes are top-notch, as authentic as they could be replicated for a film. Natalie Portman gives a phenomenal performance and embodies Jackie to the core. She sounds and looks like her in every way. This is a historically fascinating film that's hard to pass up for the sheer authentic feel of it. Jackie is available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD FENCES: https://youtu.be/jj-ZYPVRQbc Denzel Washington and Vila Davis are mesmerizing in their roles playing a husband and wife trying to raise a family in 1950's Pittsburgh. Based on the August Wilson play, the film version does feel like you're watching a play on screen. Washington and Davis are so emotionally raw that it's hard no to be engrossed by what you're witnessing. Majority of the film takes place in the backyard and home of these characters, but it doesn't even matter as the words from the script are so compelling that the words are at the center of all the action. This is a master class of acting on film. Fences is available now on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD SOLACE: https://youtu.be/Lq86v60c_Jo Colin Farrell and Anthony Hopkins duel against each other in a cat and mouse game of life and death. Hopkins plays a psychic doctor that's helping the FBI catch a mass murderer. The film has a intriguing crime mystery plot, although Farrell isn't utilized enough. The best parts of the movie is when the FBI are working with Hopkin's character going through the clues that the killer is leaving behind. There is a significant turn in the middle of the movie that you may not see coming. Solace boasts a talented cast and intriguing murder mystery that's worth checking out. Solace is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD COLLATERAL BEAUTY: https://youtu.be/w1tfLWxcEzw The film boasts a superb cast that includes Will Smith, Edward Norton, Keira Knightley and Helen Mirren. It was one of my personal favorites of 2016. Will Smith plays a man that's dealing with the loss of his young daughter. He had it all before that, a career in advertising, a wife and child, but now he's left dealing with this loss, alone. If you're looking for a movie that will make you feel emotions and one that you can get invested into, well, this is your movie. The plot has many layers that come together later in the story, so if you pay attention you'll get even more out of this movie at the end. It's one of these films that will make you reflect on your own personal life and relationships. See this film with a loved one and both of you can share smiles and shed tears together. Affleck directs and stars in Live By Night and does a really nice job at both. The story follows Boston gangster Joe Coughlin (Affleck) that sets up shop in Florida to run his business. This film has a lot going on and touches on different topics like Prohibition, interracial relationships, Ku Klux Klan all in the backdrop of mobster life. I found the movie to be entertaining with timely action sequences. Affleck surrounds himself with a nice mix of supporting talent such as Zoe Saldana, Sienna Miller, Brendan Gleeson and Elle Fanning. If you're looking for a good crime drama with some heart, Live By Night is definitely the movie to see. Affleck delivers, yet again. Wonder no more, this is what Sing is all about. From the creators of Despicable Me, Minions and The Secret Life of Pets comes this film, which is just as fun and entertaining as the ones that proceeded it. Matthew McConaughey voices the koala named Buster Moon, who serves as the Simon Cowell or insert American Idol judge name. Taron Egerton voices the hip young gorilla Johnny who is attempting to overcome obstacles to make it as a famous singer. It's these fun individual character stories and motives that make this film appealing, not to mention the cool mix of modern hit songs and some classics. Cute animals, entertaining story and good music makes Sing a movie you should see. Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, a wizard from England that embarks on a journey to New York with a suitcase packed with fantastic magical creatures. While this isn't technically Harry Potter, it does have the tone and familiarity of those Harry Potter movies. The film stands out on the simple fact that it visually looks, well, fantastic. Aside from the magic and the creatures, there is a sweet love story between Newt and a witch named Tina (Katherine Waterston). Harry Potter fans will be satisfied with this J.K. Rowling story, and newcomers can get an perspective and introduction into Harry Potter (had they not seen it already). Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is out now Ultra HD Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD 20TH CENTURY WOMEN: https://youtu.be/6JnFaltqnAY This is a really refreshing movie with a strong female perspective. The deals with a group of women raising a teenage boy in the late 1970's Southern California. Annette Bening plays the mother of the teen boy who enlists the help of two other women that are played by Greta Gerwig and Elle Fanning, together they go through the trials and tribulations of teaching him how to become a man. These women are unique free spirits, very bohemian and open minded and it's pretty neat to see that portrayal on screen. There is a lot to take away from the film, and the characters have substance and depth to them. This is a film that appeals to more than just females, it is for everyone whose struggled with growing up, raising a child and trying to discover their own identity. 20th Century Women is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD SILENCE: https://youtu.be/TcNKM4TI41E Martin Scorsese doesn't make bad movies, so you already don't have to worry about that when it comes to Silence. This is somewhat of a controversial movie though. The story takes place in the 17th century where two Catholic missionaries head to Japan in search of their mentor, during the time where Catholicism was outlawed. Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson and Adam Driver star in the movie and deliver strong performances, especially Garfield. This historical drama warrants an R rating due to its violent and gruesome nature, so this movie is definitely geared for adults. There is a lot of value that can be attained from this movie, in terms of the historical aspect of it. Make sure you have a lot of time to devote, because the movie spans over two hours and forty minutes. Silence is out now on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand WHY HIM? https://youtu.be/CO6qLC4cL8E I loved this movie. One the funniest movies of 2016 that will undoubtedly entertain you. The unlikely duo of Bryan Cranston and James Franco electrify. Franco plays Laird, a young and eccentric tech mogul who is dating the daughter of Bryan Cranston's character Ned. The comedy arises when these two meet on a holiday family visit. Ned is the polar opposite of Laird, so the comedy naturally is spawned of that. The acting is really fitting to the characters and well executed. Cranston's interactions with Franco are tremendously entertaining. Zoey Deutch and Keegan-Michael Key star alongside Franco and Cranston, but it's the performances of Griffin Gluck, who plays Ned's son, and Megan Mullally that steal the show. The jokes and one-liners are timely and genuinely funny, and the movie has a simple and easy to follow plot that's engaged with the humor and performances. This is a must see comedy that's guaranteed to have you laughing hard. Why Him? is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY: https://youtu.be/sC9abcLLQpI Ever since Disney took over the rights to the Star Wars franchise, they have done a great job of putting together quality films and releasing them every year. The second of those Star Wars movies is Rogue One. Rogue One is a prequel movie. It doesn't have all your favorite characters, yet it is crucial to the set-up of New Hope. Felicity Jones and Diego Luna star as Jyn and Cassian, members of the Rebellion Alliance that go against the Empire in an attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star. I liked the fact that there was a nice mix of action and character development. You get an inside look at these characters and who they are, which is necessary due to the fact they aren't household names in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars fans will be happy and newcomers will find it appealing also. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is available now on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY: https://youtu.be/z4PHjxRiT2I If you're looking for a lough out loud comedy that has the Christmas spirit and a great comedic cast, then this is the movie for you. Stacked with a stellar cast that includes Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, T.J. Miller, Olivia Munn and some of the best current SNL talent that bring the onscreen characters to life. T.J. Miller plays a wacky goof named Clay that's about to have his business branch taken away by his sister Carol (Aniston), so he decided to throw an epic Christmas party to bring up the team morale and win over a potential client. There are a lot of hilarious moments in the movie that will have you bursting out with laughter. I also had a personal liking due to the story taking place in Chicago. Office Christmas Party is the new Christmas comedy classic. Not pleasant to live though, but fascinating to watch. The late Anton Yelchin stars in one of his final roles. The film also stars Catherine Keener and Riley Keough, who give strong performances alongside Yelchin. This film is about love, family and internal struggle. There are some dark moments in the movie that makes it suitable for mature audiences. It's one of those indies you may not have heard of that is worth checking out, even if just to see the talent of Yelchin in one of his final film roles. We Don't Belong Here is available now on DVD and Digital YOUTH IN OREGON: https://youtu.be/bWhSL9te5Eg Frank Langella plays an elderly man named Raymond that decides to travel cross country to Oregon to die. Billy Crudup plays the son-in-law who is tasked with driving Raymond across country in hopes of also convincing him against his wishes to die. This film reminds me and has the feel of Little Miss Sunshine, obviously with a whole different premise though. The humor comes out of the interactions and the honest conversations the characters have. I appreciated the movie for bringing about the discussion of the reality of aging and the thoughts and decisions that may come with it. Youth In Oregon is available now on DVD LION: https://youtu.be/-RNI9o06vqo A remarkable true story about an Indian boy who gets lost from home in Calcutta and after numerous struggles he's adopted by an Australian couple. 25 years later with the help of Google he sets out to rediscover his lost family. Sunny Pawar is charming playing the young Saroo, it's almost hard to believe that Pawar had no prior acting experience. Dev Patel plays the older Saroo and he adds a different perspective to the film. Nicole Kidman plays the woman who adopts Saroo. The film has a great inspiring story, very well acted and it's a movie that you can get invested into. Check out and see why this was an Oscar nominated picture. Lion is out now of Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand THE BYE BYE MAN: https://youtu.be/S2DwrJ9S3f4 Don't say his name and don't think it or else The Bye Bye Man will take over your mind and body. The concept of The Bye Bye Man is clever and fresh. He isn't a deformed beast or psycho killer, but he's a mere figure who doesn't even have to come in contact with you to impose his terror on you. The movie has moments that will make you jump. It is nicely directed by Stacy Title, a rarity to have a female film director, much less one that's directing a horror, so you can see her influence and style by watching the movie. It's a modern horror, that is set in today's world with technology aiding and sabotaging the characters, which is kinda refreshing that it doesn't have the timeless nature to it as many horrors do. The Bye Bye Man is a worthwhile watch. The Bye Bye Man is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD TONI ERDMANN: https://youtu.be/j0uwi5EPnpA If you haven't heard of Toni Erdmann do yourself a favor and check this gem out. This is unlike most movies you'll see. It's about a father attempting to reconnect with his daughter, but she wants no part of it. What does Winfried do to get his daughter Ines to pay attention to him? Well, he disguises himself and takes on the character of Toni Erdmann, an over-the-top goon whose mere appearance will crack you up. This movie is a ton of fun. It's one of the best foreign films of 2016. I didn't even mind the subtitles (the movie is in German), as the story and characters will have you fully engrossed. Toni Erdmann is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital (the Blu-ray edition of Toni Erdmann is being released only as “Manufactured on Demand” on Amazon.com) WAR ON EVERYONE: https://youtu.be/XQ2L1heHHnk This is the movie that Chips should have been. Also starring Michael Peña, who has become to go-to actor for cop roles, especially comedic ones. The unlikeliest duo of Peña and Alexander Skarsgård end up being ideally matched together in this film playing two crooked cops who blackmail criminals to make money. The movie has action, comedy and a fun storyline. The moments of laughter derive from the goofy things that Peña and Skarsgård say and do. It's a cool movie that you'll have fun watching. War On Everyone is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD SPLIT: https://youtu.be/84TouqfIsiI After years of mediocre films M. Night Shyamalan is back! Thanks in part to the quality and success of this film. James McAvoy gives one of the finest performances I've ever seen, easily his best, and that's really saying something. McAvoy plays a man with 24 very different personalities that abducts three girls. The movie is chilling mainly due McAvoy's creepy portrayal of these various personas. This may be a thriller, but it's scarier than many horror movies. I couldn't help but be intrigued from scene-to-scene on what the next persona would do and say. Not only is this one of the best thrillers of the year, but also one of the best movies of 2017. A must see. The story of McDonald's and Ray Kroc is finally told in The Founder. Michael Keaton excels playing the slick, charming and sneaky Kroc. It's a fascinating story of the humble beginnings and meteoric rise of the biggest fast food chain in the world. It has a personal connection to me since I still live in the same town that the first McDonald's "store" opened up (it's still there today). I feel the movie does a good job of being fair and sharing the McDonald's brothers side of the story, it doesn't just focus on Kroc perspective. If you're skeptical about this film and not compelled to see it due to it being a movie about a fast food restaurant then I can assure you that it is plenty interesting and entertaining. The Founder is a fantastic movie option for you to see and come away surprised and informed about the huge pop culture entity that all of us had visited and eaten at at some point. While Moonlight won Best Picture, it's La La Land that will have the lasting power years down the road. It is simply spectacular. It looks like a throwback to the classic musicals of the 50's and 60's, but it is also boasts a modern story and flare. The sets and locations are colorful and pop. The on-screen chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is electrifying. This movie is addicting. The song and dance numbers are outstanding. I'm not even a fan of musicals, but this one is next level. La La Land is romantic and joyous with many unforgettable moments. This is a must see for anyone. Seriously it's hard not to fall in love with this movie. An instant classic. Pick it up and buy it. Just as Mila Jovovich has been doing her thing with the Resident Evil franchise, Beckinsale has been carving out her own action adventure franchise with Underworld. This is a fun flick, if you're a fan of the previous films, you'll also like this one. In Blood Wars, Selene (Backinsale) must fight off the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. The action is there, the ass-kicking is there. You get what you expect and that's good enough. Underworld: Blood Wars is out now on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS: https://youtu.be/p1n4vpOjm5E I had been waiting years to the follow up for 28 Weeks Later and it hasn't arrived. 28 Days and Weeks Later are my favorite zombie films and none other haven't come close to them until now. The Girl With All The Gifts has a very similar, feel, tone and look to it as 28 Days and Weeks Later. This is a legitimate creepy and exciting British zombie horror thriller. The story is set in a dystopian world where a doctor and teacher groom a group of flesh eating youngsters who are the few remaining human hybrids. Yes, the plot is different than 28 Days, but it is similar in the fact that a disease has wiped out most humans and the savage nature of the reality of the situation still rings true. I highly encourage zombie movie fans to check this out, but even if you aren't you can still indulge in the scares and brutality of a great zombie flick. The Girl With All The Gifts is out now on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand THE MARINE 5: BATTLEGROUND: https://youtu.be/p7-UWfjHjCw John Cena introduced audiences to The Marine franchise, but Miz has since become the face of it. The fifth installment of the Marine boasts the largest list of WWE Superstars. This time around Jake Carter (Mike "The Miz" Mizanin) is back stateside and working as an EMT and he's tasked with protecting a person from a biker gang. You get plenty of action with this movie. Blowups, fights, you name it. The inclusion of various WWE Superstars is a nod to the fans. Some of the stuff in the movie is a bit ridiculous, but it's supposed to be fun and taken in stride. Not all movies need to have great acting or a great plot to be fun. Battleground stays true to it's premise. The Marine 5: Battleground is out now on Blu-ray and DVD BRIMSTONE: https://youtu.be/AFk32lA8eqs Brimstone is the right kinda western mystery movie, intense. Elle Fanning has been garnering all the attention lately, but her sister Dakota reminds us that's she's still around and doing really nice work. Guy Pearce plays a preacher who is evil and ruthless to the core and torments Liz (Fanning). Liz isn't one to fold and endure, so she fights back the best she can. I liked this film and appreciated the strong female character that Fanning plays. Pearce does a hell of a job as the intimidating preacher. This is a western on the surface, but a definite well played thriller to the core. Brimstone is available now on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand MAD FAMILIES: https://youtu.be/9gOnEXWaBKg Ok, before you give me crap on this, hear me out. I can watch Charlie Sheen in just about anything and find him ridiculously entertaining. This movie is silly as it gets, it's ridiculous, but it's Charlie Sheen! Ohh the story is about three families battling over a campsite, but who even cares. You know what to expect. You wanna see Sheen, you check this out. Mad Families is out now on DVD MINE: https://youtu.be/ESLXnt6fe_8 Originally I had this movie confused with the upcoming movie The Wall, which has a similar theme of soldier trapped in the desert. Mine stars Armie Hammer as a soldier on the brink of death that's stranded in the desert and having to overcome physical and mental challenges. While this is a war movie by the theme of it, in reality it's a film about survival, along the likes of 127 Hours and Buried. It is an intense thriller that will keep you on your toes (no pun intended). Hammer does a great job of depicting the struggles that his character is forced to deal with and overcome, and there is a lot throw his way. The majority of the story takes place in one location, but the obstacles offer plenty of intrigue for the viewer to stay engaged. A blind man regains his vision and becomes infatuated with the superficial lifestyle. Dan Stevens and Malin Akerman are well casted in their roles. There really is a telling story on how we as humans are capable of changing who we are when some good fortune comes our way. It's the sort of tale many celebrities and actors are part of when they strike it big and after coming from humble beginnings. It's a film that makes you reflect and appreciate the important things in life and relationships you have. The Ticket is a really interesting movie that will resonate and make you think about it and wonder how you'd handle the situation if it happened to you. This is a solid thriller with some supernatural elements to it. I really liked the location this film was shot in (Marion, IL), it really adds to the mystique of the story and looks the part of a small obscure pretty town. Ted Levine plays the town sheriff, but he's so reminiscent of Jeff Bridges playing any sheriff, the way he talks and looks. Samantha Isler is a young talented actress to notice in this film. The movie didn't get much coverage, but check it out. Dig Two Graves is available now On Demand CARRIE PILBY: https://youtu.be/Jv0OazssK5g Carrie Pilby chooses to be an outsider. She's not into pop culture, dating, sex crazed people and those that lack morals. Pilby is a lot more smarter than most, but it's working against any hope of a social life. With the help of a therapist she agrees to open up socially and the result of that is an eye opening experience for her. It's a quirky movie with some good comedy from the likes of Bel Powley, Nathan Lane and SNL's Vanessa Bayer. In this case the bestselling novel translates pretty well to screen. One of my favorite actresses, Emilia Clarke, plays a nurse who attempts to aid a young boy who has gone silent after the death of his mother. The movie has a great setting, 1950's Tuscany, large brick castle buildings, this rainy damp look, green pastures surrounding the moody tones. The sets, outfits and overall look is excellent in adding another dimension to the story. As far as the plot itself, it's definitely intriguing and suspenseful. The soundtrack is incredible, performed by the very talented Amy Lee of Evanescence fame. It definitely is fitting with the gothic vibe of the movie. Voice From The Stone is a really good under-the-radar film to add to your watch list. Two girls are left behind at a boarding school for different reasons, but they must fend off evil forces. This movie is well crafted and executed. It's one of those films where you want to avoid leaks and delving deeper into the trailer because you don't want to get any idea of potential spoilers. The movie takes you on a ride and as layers are revealed more information is presented. The mood of this movie is something to take notice of. It's set in this wintry, isolated, cold and morbid tension. You'll understand what I'm saying when you see the film, which you should definitely make time to see. A very good horror thriller. Very good performances from Erika Linder and Natalie Krill. The story is of two women who fall have an spontaneous affair that leads to a lot more and makes them question what they want and how it will affect their lives. This is a refreshing concept. You usually get the married straight couple and either the man (usually) or the woman has an affair, but here it's an affair between two women, one of which has man. This is a very female driven film, both on-screen and off. Written by Stephanie Fabrizi in first feature screenwriting debut, and directed by April Mullen. The female perspective is strong and it shows. The film is kinda mesmerizing in the sense that it really grasps you and are immediately intrigued of what will come of this affair and what the repercussions of it will be. Clearly this is a film for mature audiences, but one you should definitely consider and see. She plays a woman who is abducted by this shady organization that wants to mess with her DNA and change her into a unimaginable being. The film does a good job of raising tension and anticipation. I was intrigued where the story was headed and what was to come of Rapace's character. There are also moments that will make you feel uneasy, which is actually what this kinda movie should do. Rupture is out now On Demand, DirecTV and Digital HD, and out on DVD on May 30 SHADOW EFFECT: https://youtu.be/EjwFuLq_De8 Cam Gigandet and Jonathan Rhys Meyers come star in this action thriller about a man that has nightmares about violence he ends up committing in reality. There is a lot of solid action in this film and Gigandet is the right man for the job. Rhys Meyers plays this untrustworthy English lab scientist doctor, which is a different role for him that is actually fun to see him do. The action is fast paced and the story moves quickly and doesn't stag. The twist reveal towards the end is pretty cool also. Shadow Effect is out now on DVD, Digital HD and On Demand THE DINNER: https://youtu.be/DZzcjIbd8O0 Oren Moverman does a fantastic job transforming the novel version into film with his screenwriting and directing. The film boasts a very talented cast that includes Richard Gere, Rebecca Hall, Laura Linney and Steve Coogan. The story deals with two couples getting together at a fancy dinner to have a heated discussion about the fate of their children who have committed a crime. The best moments of this film come from the arguments and talks the couples have at the dinner table, that's where the real tension and intensity is magnified. You can't help but put yourself in the shoes of the parents and think what you would do if presented with the same situation and having to weigh the future of your children against your moral beliefs. The Dinner is out now in select theaters nationwide
