I, DANIEL BLAKE:
I, Daniel Blake may be one of the more sociality, politically and humanly relevant movie of the year. This film really puts a focus on the vulnerable struggling people in society. Dave Johns plays Daniel Blake, a man struggling to make ends meet and forced to find work after undergoing serious health issues, he befriends a struggling mother of two and together they form a bond. It’s hard to not feel for these characters. Director Ken Loach depicts the raw struggle of the lower class in the United Kingdom in the most authentic way. The performances are very realistic and so is the story. A great depiction of how the government system has failed the people that rely on it the most. This is a very timely movie that will give you a perspective along with some heartfelt laughs.
I, Daniel Blake is out now at The Music Box (Chicago) and select local theaters
