For Phillipa Soo, Emma’s choice and its impact on her emotional life was engrossing. “When I read the script, and subsequently the book, I was drawn to Emma’s dilemma:
This character has to make an impossible decision,” says Soo. “The story asks: Do our past experiences make us who we are? Or do we get to choose?” “At the center of it all we see a woman coming out of her grief, and, with the help of her loved ones, navigate through what might be the biggest decision of her life,” Soo says.
