Aston Kutcher has been tapped for another romantic comedy; this time alongside Jennifer Jason Leigh. We get the scoop from the professionals at Variety:
Ashton Kutcher and Jennifer Jason Leigh will star in the indie sex comedy “Spread,” which Kutcher’s Katalyst banner is producing. Story chronicles the adventures of a serial womanizer (Kutcher); Leigh will play a thwarted lover. Jason Dean Hall penned the screenplay in his feature film debut. Scottish helmer David MacKenzie, who is known for such sexually charged dramas as “Young Adam,” “Hallam Foe” and “Asylum,” is directing. Shooting begins later this month in Los Angeles.
Not much news about his one, Kutcher is going to hump around and throw his baby sauce on some friends and J.J. Lee is going to come back for some sort of revenge. Don’t hate; appreciate! From the information that we currently have about this project, I am unable to get excited. A romantic comedy has to be pretty outstanding to stand out amongst a horde of refuse. Many are disposable one offs that you use once and throw away; I think I may start calling romantic comedies tampon films.
I thought What Happens in Vegas sounded promising, but after seeing the trailer, I have lost all hope. Kutcher was great in That 70’s Show and really hasn’t done anything on the big screen that comes close to it in terms of quality. That being said, when you are still getting gigs and slamming Demi Moore, it would certainly be hard to give a fuck.
