More Honsou news! It appears his rumored comic book role will be based on the Conan franchise! We get the delightful news thanks to our friends at the moviehole:
A few days back the actor told IESB.net that he was going to be starring in a comic book movie trilogy. CHUD though, got a little more out of the actor on the subject – and he says he’s referring to something connected to the world of “Conan”. ‘’I kind of wanted to be quiet about it until I completely finished the project. It’s obviously a comic book that used to be part of the Conan comic book…’’
Here’s where things get sticky – CHUD confirmed with NuImage, the chaps behind the “Conan” movie, that ‘’not only are they not talking to Djimon Hounsou for the film, they don’t have a director and they’re probably two months from even having a finished script.’’
I am all for Honsou being in a Conan film; he looks like a warrior and would suit a barbarian film like a glove. With the Conan camp saying that he isn’t involved with them, and with Honsou saying that the film is based on a comic book that was “part of the Conan comic book” – I am wondering if we are going to see a new Red Sonya film? If not Red Sonya – then Some other character from the Conan universe. I am racking my brain trying to think who it could be.
Whoever the character is, it sounds like this is going to be a sword & sandal film – and that suits me just fine. Honsou as a sword wielding warrior will be delightful and I look forward to all upcoming news about this project. Now that interest is brewing round the net, I hope we get some details shortly.
