The lead singer of Iron Maiden has co – written a film about a reincarnated Aleister Crowley! We get wind of this news thanks to the BBC via cinematical:
Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson has co-written a horror film, which is to be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Supernatural thriller Chemical Wedding will then be released in British cinemas in the summer.
The film stars Simon Callow as Professor Haddo, the reincarnation of occultist Aleister Crowley, once described as Britain’s most evil man. The film is directed by Julian Doyle, who co-wrote the script with Dickinson. Doyle directed the video for the band’s 1988 single Can I Play with Madness.
Bruce Dicksonson is currently flying Iron Maiden around the globe for their current tour. He is a pilot, competitive fencer, does a radio show on the BBC, and now has co – written a movie. This is a man with a myriad of talents and I am certainly interested in seeing how his film turns out. To quote the band 3 ectomorphs and a sentinel “Fuck you Picasso, we love you Bruce!”
Aleister Crowley is a legendary occultist, and as a good a man as any for the subject of a film. Using powerful spells and unholy magic, Crowley no doubt made appropriate steps to ensure his reincarnation; so his work could continue, and his knowledge would build from one existence to the next.
I am excited to see this film, and if it is a success I am curious if we can see more movies from the mind of Bruce.
