James Cromwell Joins George Bush Film “W”

Just the other day we mentioned that Josh Brolin has signed on to play the lead role of President George W Bush and Elizabeth Banks is on to play his wife Laura in the upcoming Oliver Stone movie “W” (great title). Well it looks like the cast has filled out as James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn have joined up to play George Bush Sr. and Barbara.

Variety gives us this:

Stone will direct from a script by his “Wall Street” co-writer Stanley Weiser. Moritz Borman is producing with Bill Block and Jon Kilik. Cromwell recently made another fact-based foray in a film about an iconic political figure: He played Prince Philip alongside Helen Mirren in “The Queen.” Stone was calling the project “Bush” when he began showing it to buyers (Daily Variety, Jan. 21), but the filmmakers are now calling it “W.” The film is expected to be ready for distribution possibly by the November presidential elections and certainly before Bush leaves the White House in January.

I’ve said this before already, but I’m really looking forward to this. I hope it doesn’t get too one sided… but it probably will. It’s a pretty freaky fast turn around time if they can actually get this into theaters by the election in November. But without a lot of Special Effects work to be done, it’s not impossible.
