As if I needed a buildup to get me excited about Batman:The Dark Knight, an animated movie prequel will be released, and Titan Books will be publishing the official novelisation: Batman: Gotham Knight.
An exciting new venture helmed by a startling array of distinguished directors and producers, Batman: Gotham Knight weaves together six interlocking stories to explore Bruce Wayne’s journey from Batman to The Dark Knight. This official tie-in is written by freelance DC writer Louise Simonson, and based on the story scripts penned by comics elite including Brian Azzarello and Greg Rucka.
I am certain that John gave me this story to write about because I am the only TMB staffer who reads books.
But really, I like the idea of this bridge novel. I just wonder how it will tie in. How much time has passed?
In the final moments of Batman Begins we see Gordon offering up some evidence for Batman to consider about a new criminal with a “flare for the theatrics” and by the playing card we are clearly lead to believe that this is about the Joker.
Unless you live on the moon, or you are Amish, you know that The Dark Knight will revolve around the Joker as the main villain. So how much story will there be from the introduction of the Joker to Batman actually doing something about him?
I am actually looking forward to the book instead of the animated tie-in. Gotham Knight will be on my reading list and will be bought first day. What about you?
