Shia “Beeflord” LaBeouf has signed on to star in the film adaptation of Dark Fields. We get the following news thanks to the professionals at Variety:
Shia LaBeouf has signed on to star in Universal’s techno thriller “Dark Fields.” Neil Burger (“The Illusionist”) will direct the pic, which is based on Alan Glynn’s 2002 novel “The Dark Fields.”
Story centers on a young man who comes into possession of the ultimate smart pill, and the events that ensue. Leslie Dixon (“Hairspray”) adapted the screenplay and will produce. Dixon acquired the material and wrote the script for less than her usual quote in exchange for having more control over the project.
A story about an “ultimate smart pill” is one that will lend itself to some daydreaming. We can put ourselves in the shoes of “The Beef” and wonder if we would act in a similar manner, if out intelligence was raised. In the book Flowers For Algernon we take a journey with a man as he goes from being mentally challenged to genius level intelligence. It is a fantastic story and I am wondering if this tale takes us on a similar journey.
If I took a pill that raised my intelligence, I would probably move to switzerland and run a sausage cart.
If any of you have read Dark Fields please share your thoughts on the book with us.
