The man responsible for the mucho macho 300 has been chosen to helm the film adaptation of Guardians of Ga’Hoole. We get wind of this news from our friends at
Director Zack Snyder, from last years’ blockbuster 300 and his most recent project Watchmen, has signed up for a turn at animation! Variety had the news, “Zack Snyder is set to direct ‘Guardians of Ga’Hoole,’ an animated feature film based on the series of children’s books by Kathryn Lasky.
Pic is set in the Forest of Tyto, where Barn Owls live in peace until their kingdom is threatened by an evil that could destroy their home.”
Guardians of Ga’Hoole is a bestselling book series that looks like it feature a lot of owls. I know nothing about the series, but if you have youngsters that have read it – or have read it yourself, please let us in on the story.
I was extremely pleased at how 300 turned out and am interested in seeing how Zack Snyder’s does with Watchmen. If he is able to hit two films out of the park back to back it will set him up well for this animated series. I am not going to call myself a fan of Mr. Snyder yet, but I certainly am interested in seeing what he has in store for us next.
His use of CGI backgrounds was great in 300, and I could be ignorant of the differences, but I would assume that this work would have been good training for animated features as well. I look forward to seeing animated owl combat.
