It appears that a few of the Arrested Development crew have been hired for Sit Down, Shut Up. We get wind of this project, and casting news from our friends at comingsoon:
Mitch Hurwitz has recruited three of his “Arrested Development” cast members — Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Henry Winkler — to voice roles in his animated Fox comedy “Sit Down, Shut Up,” says The Hollywood Reporter. “Sit Down, Shut Up” from Tantamount, Sony and Granada, centers on staff members at a high school who are preoccupied with their own needs and agendas, which means the students come second.
Fox greenlighted a table read of “Sit Down,” based on the live-action Australian series, last month. Also joining the voice cast are Cheri Oteri, Will Forte, Regina King, Nick Kroll, Tom Kenny and Maria Bamford.
The cast from Arrested Development is hilarious and their chemistry is among the best I have seen on television. Having any number of the cast together, in any combination will always be welcomed by me. For filmmakers, having a few of this crew in your film will pretty much guarantee magical memories. People love magical memories. Even magicians love magical memories.
I would prefer if this film was not animated, so we could see the actors and their reactions. Will Arnett gives hilarious looks and this will be lost in the animation. I can picture these guys as slacker teachers, and think that this idea is a very premise for a film.
Some concern has been raised over on the comingsoon message boards. Some readers on the site are claiming that the Australian program that this film is based on, was garbage. If any of you have seen the program; your thoughts would be welcome as well. I am not sure how closely the film will match the TV show, but if the criticism is true – hopefully it will learn from the mistakes of the show.
