Rick Yune has joined the cast of Ninja Assasin. We get the following scoop from our friends at comingsoon:
Rick Yune has been cast as the antagonist in Ninja Assassin, the Wachowskis-produced action film James McTeigue is directing for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, says The Hollywood Reporter. Joel Silver is producing via Dark Castle, while Grant Hill is producing.
The martial arts extravaganza stars Korean actor-singer Rain, who also appears in the siblings’ Speed Racer, as a man brought up in an orphanage functioning as a ninja farm. The man turns his back on his tradition to make his way in the modern world, which brings him into conflict with a ninja (Yune) from the clan.
A orphanage is as good a place as any for a Ninja Farm. Training orphans in Ninjitsu is a practice that I have always supported, and it warms my heart to see this kind of education being championed by the Wachowski brothers. The Wachowskis are scoring huge geek points by jumping from Speed Racer right into ninjas. People love ninjas, and everyone should aspire to own their own outfit (with tabi boots).
The title of this film is awesome. If I was in a rental store, had no idea about this film, and just saw the title – I would rent it. The title tells you very important information with just two words. You know that their will be at least one ninja, and they will assassinate at least one person, but probably way more than one – because ninjas are over achievers.
I will be certain to hunt for pictures, news, and clips of this film as they become available.
