Political movies seem to be getting the attention lately. Not that the genre is new, but has it ever been such a hot button? With a movie like Oliver Stone’s W portraying Bush in film while he is just barely walking out of office in real life are we really surprised that the events we shake our heads at are being made into films?
Recount is a film to relive the turbulent moments in the closest election in US history being decided by one state’s demanded recount. The cast looks awesome.
Directed by Jay Roach (Meet The Parents, Austin Powers), and starring Kevin Spacey stars as Ron Klain, former Vice President Al Gore’s Chief of Staff, John Hurt as Warren Christopher, who supervised the contested Florida recount, Laura Dern as Katherine Harris, former Secretary of State for the State of Florida, Tom Wilkinson as James Baker and Denis Leary as Michael Whouley.
In a world where political blunders are the very nutrients that comedians like to feed on, we like to wait until the body gets cold before laughing at the knife, but there seems to be a wave of movies that have too much fun with this. I am not complaining as I see a great deal of fun to be had at their expense.
