The last Terminator film was easily the weakest of the pile, but it did serve to introduce us to an important character in the time spanning saga of the Terminators. John Connor’s wife Kate. Kate plays an even more significant role in Terminator Salvation:The Future Begins. The character was originally going to be reprised by Claire Danes, but due to scheduling conflicts (and potential strike) the role will now be played by Bryce Dallas Howard.
The character of Kate was introduced in Terminator 3 as Kate Brewster, played by Claire Danes. If you remember correctly Brewster was actually the one who sent the last terminator (played by Arnold) back in time to protect John, as Connor was said to have been assassinated on July 4th 2032 by the same T-850. The film begins 14 years before his assassination.
So this doesn’t change much on the continuity of the story, but frankly I would sooner see Claire Danes in the role.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Bryce is good enough to do the gig, but Claire Danes is a hard shoe to fill.
Will this movie forgive T3? Will this be better and herald a new revival of the Terminator franchise or is this just beating the dead horse offering another chapter in an already told story.
