Intrepid fans at SnitchSeeker.comsnapped off some pictures at the Licensing Expo
I just got back from covering the Licensing International Expo 2008 in New York City on behalf of SnitchSeeker.com, where previews for promotional photos and merchandise for Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince were displayed by Warner Bros. to the media and all those who attended.
Looking at these promos it is painfully obvious that little Harry has grown up.
I recently endured a Harry Potter marathon in my home with my boys (I am also a fan) and it was amazing to watch this young man grow up. Dan Radcliffe himself is now 19 but his character in Half Blood Prince is barely 16. Not a stretch however Harry is looking more mature than his age lately and these images seem to hint that. It is not uncommon for older actors to play younger characters. Hell, none of the cast of 90210 were highschool age in that Highschool teen drama. So do we really care?
Harry might fit the bill he molded himself to perfectly, but what about the other cast? Tom Felton plays a perfectly wonderful Draco Malfoy, but he too is drinking milk and the lad is sprouting to a much bolder stature than his weasley manipulative literary counterpart. You could see in previous films how they used camera angles and such to play down the fact that Tom is much bigger than Harry while in the books he is described as more slender.
The movie has promise. It was my favourite of the books, so I am holding this in high hopes. I just worry that the editing room which is responsible for removing much of the sidestories of previous books to film may get the better of this one too.
