I was already scolded like a disobedient child for refering to the Batman sequel as Batman: The Dark Knight – Its just “The Dark Knight”, and now I find that calling Bay’s Transformers sequel Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is wrong now too. They are dropping the 2.
While it was previously “announced” as “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen,” Superhero Hype! has learned that DreamWorks/Paramount has opted to make it Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen instead.
One thing that bothers me about movie titles in sequels is when they change the pattern. So when the sequel comes out, you are establishing the pattern. Make up your mind now and don’t change it. If you want to put a 2 there, then the third movie has to have a 3. Not a subtitle. Not like Rocky 1,2,3,4,5,Balboa.
So as much as I don’t like them taking the 2 out, I actually prefer a subtitle instead of the 2. It adds a little more imapct to the movie instead of just sayin “here’s another one”.
So for Transformer Fans, would you sooner see it just be Transformers 2? Or do you like the longer title?
