It looks like Millar is calling dibs on the next Superman film after scoring success with Wanted. We get the scoop from our friends at slashfilm:
“Since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to reinvent Superman for the 21st century,” said Millar. “I’ve been planning this my entire life. I’ve got my director and producer set up, and it’ll be 2011. This is how far ahead you have to think. The Superman brand is toxic after that last movie lost [a good chunk of change], but in 2011 we’re hoping to restart it. Sadly I can’t say who the director is, but we may make it official by Christmas.”
Millar is slinging shit and trying to push out the previous Superman team with bravado and a plan! I have no idea if his coup will be successful, but if he comes up with a zinger of a director for Christmas – will the studios consider it? Could his ambitious pitch and preparedness entice the studio to switch drivers?
Most seem to agree that Bryan Singer dropped the ball with the last Superman film. Should the powers that be allow him a second chance, or would you guys favor the reigns be stripped from him and handed to Millar and co? Also, would you personally prefer a Superman sequel, or would you favor a reboot at this point?
