We get sequel news from the mouth of Rogen today! The following scoop is made available to us from our friends at slashfilm:
What are the chances we’ll get a SuperBad 2? Seth Rogen told moviehole that the studio has been after them to do a sequel ever since the film was released nearly a year ago, but they’ve ultimately decided not to make a sequel. “They’re been wanting us to do a sequel to Superbad for so long – but we’ve held off,” Rogen said. “We eventually said No.”
But Rogen isn’t against the idea of sequels all together, adding that he would love to make another Pineapple Express if all goes well. “If it did well, and they gave us like $50 million dollars, as opposed to the $26M we got for this one, we could benefit from that.”
There you have it folks. It’s nice to see Rogen say no to a Superbad sequel. Money was no doubt being thrown at his face, and it shows both class and balls that he said no. I wish more people would say no to sequels.
Pineapple Express hasn’t been released yet, but it appears to feature heavy drug humor, and films like this are usually always game for sequels. When a film revolves around marijuana abuse, seldom do those involved want you to take the film seriously. More often than not, they make the films for people that enjoy narcotics, and watch the film on the refer. As long as people continue to enjoy marijuana, I think there will always be a market for more Pineapple Express films. I would like them to get more and more ridiculous with the movies. In Pineapple Express 5 I want to see them back in time smoking drugs as they ride on the backs of triceratops.
