Considering it was one of the biggest roles for a former bodybuilder turned actor, this is a great foot in the door for Roland Kickinger. He is playing the T-800 in next May’s Terminator Salvation.
Coming Soonquotes Kickinger (this is the part that isn’t spoilery)
“It’s Arnold’s character in the first Terminator. That’s basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about.”
I am actually looking forward to this movie. I have always been a big fan of the original (and even the TV Series – which I consider separate), and now there have been enough sequels to bring about the timeline so that a sequel, is actually a prequel. Oh, isn’t time travel fun!
See, in Terminator, thats where the real story began. Skynet is launched and the machines turn on man. I always wanted to see that part of the story and see it fleshed it proper. And by proper, I mean not like the last Terminator movie that was simply made to have another Terminator Movie.
Usually I am against non-actors getting roles, but in this case the terminator is a role that requires someone with a strong physical presence and no personality. It is a machine, and I think getting a bodybuilder is suitable (worked the first time) as their stage presence is key in their competitions, and thats about all we need for a terminator. Presence.
