First we heard of it, Djimon Hounsou was signing on for a comic book movie trilogy and we speculated Black Panther. Then in March Doug revealed it would be a Conan related film and finally we find out exactly what it is.
Honsou will be playing the role made famous by James Earl Jones in 1982, Thulsa Doom!
Djimon Hounsou has partnered with Dynamite Entertainment to star in and produce a big screen feature about immortal sorcerer Thulsa Doom, a central figure in the Conan the Barbarian and Kull comic books, reports Variety.
I agree with Doug, that this man would easily be able to play a warrior god in a sword and sandal flick, and what better role to adapt than the very adversary to Conan and even Kull!
It might be a spoiler, but since we all know that the Dread Pirate Conan never leaves his conquests alive (people might think he went soft) that this will be prequel story. Apparently the film will portray him as a “flawed hero” and that his rise to power was paved with good intentions.
I fear this might be another good guy goes bad story in which James Earl Jones will not be called in to do the voiceover of the transformed hero character at the end resulting in a weak “Noooooooo!”
