We have news today that Howard Stern seeks to remake Rock And Roll High School. We get the following skinny from our friends at Latino Review:
The trades are reporting something that Stern fans have known for some time. Radio Star Howard Stern has been talking about remaking the cult classic “Rock ‘n’ Roll High School” and partnering up with Larry Levinson.
Interestingly enough, Alex Winter, who is best known as Keanu Reeves dopy partner in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, will write the script. The film was about a group of rebellious students who, with the help of punk rock band the Ramones, thwarted a repressive, rock-music-hating principal.
I like Howard Stern and think he’s a very funny man. I have no problem with him being involved in the making of films; in fact, I champion him. I don’t understand why he wants to do remakes however. We have too many of them as it is, and if he wants to make a movie – I want to see him do just that. Stern has the chops to do something fresh. I would much rather see him make his own high school film.
All that being said, I am pumped to see that Alex Winter will be writing the script. As a founding member of Wyld Stallyons, I cannot think of a better fit for a movie about rock & roll and teenage rebellion.
