Christina Applegate will not let the devil of cancer alter her schedule for more than a month! We get the following news from our friends at IMDB:
Actress Christina Applegate will continue shooting her U.S. TV series Samantha Who? as she undergoes reconstructive breast surgery following a double mastectomy. The 36-year-old star revealed on Tuesday she had both breasts removed after being diagnosed with cancer last month.
Applegate – who was given the all-clear following the operation – is now scheduled to undergo reconstructive surgery over the next eight months. A spokesperson for the star insists she will be “on a normal shooting schedule”, adding that the procedure “is not affecting production”.
The actress had already completed filming five episodes for the upcoming season of her hit comedy show before stopping for a summer break at the end of June. An ABC spokesperson confirms: “They’re on a scheduled hiatus and she’ll be back next month. It’s business as usual.”
Cancer sucks. I was bummed when I heard Christina had breast cancer, surprised when she went pre-emptive and had both breasts removed and overjoyed when she started making jokes about her future implants the week after the surgery! This lady has a positive mindset, and a legendary work ethic. I am very excited that her recovery is going well, and we all look forward to seeing what replacements she picks out.
Applegate is among my favorite comedic actresses and I am very pleased that things are going as well as they possibly could for her at this time. We will be sure to keep you posted on her health and projects. With luck, we will hear news shortly of her return to Anchorman 2.
