Special Editorial – McCain And Palin Think Americans Are Morons

**This is a non-movie related personal view editorial. If like most people you’re only here for movie chat, just skip this post and head down to the next one**

Yes, this is The Movie Blog, but sometimes when important or tragic events happen in our world that remind us that there are significantly more important things than movies out there (hard to imagine), we stop our regular routine to at least make a mention of it. It doesn’t happen often, but it does from time to time. The American presidential election is upon us, an event that will literally shape the way the world looks in the coming years, and while I’ve tried to keep my mouth shut as long as I can, recent events compel me to speak my (limited and not the brightest) mind.

So what do you do if you’re the McCain presidential campaign committee and:

1) John McCain, a 72 year old cancer patient, selects a person to be president of the United States who he has only met once before in his life, not caring about the well being of his country, and being more concerned about the temporary bump his campaign would get.

2) A Vice Presidential candidate who knows so much about the world she only got her visa last year.

3) According to every poll your candidate lost his first debate to Obama resoundingly.

4) According to every poll your Vice Presidential candidate lost her debate to Biden

5) You’re losing on the economic issues

6) You’re actually losing on foreign policy issues

7) You’re behind on the polls and falling further back.

Since most Americans are intelligent human beings, you’d think that the best thing to do is focus attention on your issues, change your communication tactics to get your message across in a more focused manner, and then trust the American people to decide which philosophy and which side of the issues they want to fall on… democrat or republican.

BUT NOT IF YOU’RE THE MCCAIN CAMPAIGN:

Their philosophy is to treat the American public like they’re all easily distracted morons, abandon the issues and start name calling and National Enquirer style campaigning. Case in point, this latest story on CNN:

“Palin says Obama pals with ‘terrorists'”

Palin’s attack delivered on the McCain campaign’s announcement that it would step up attacks on the Democratic presidential candidate with just a month left before the November general election.

“We see America as the greatest force for good in this world,” Palin said at a fund-raising event in Colorado, adding, “Our opponent though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.”

Palin cited an article in Saturday’s New York Times about Obama’s relationship with Ayers, now 63. But that article concluded that “the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called ‘somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.’ “

They’re getting outclassed in the debates
They’re getting beaten on the issues
They’re sliding in the polls
They’re (at least Palin) is humiliating themselves and their party on televised interviews.

So let’s start terrorist association!!! They actually admit they’re pretty much ready to give up on issues and policy and have announced they are going to just focus on attacking Obama. Not presenting ideas to the American people. Not debate the validity or merits of their ideas… they just want to focus desperately on “attacking Obama”. This is the state of the McCain campaign.

For the record I have supported both Conservatives and Liberals in my own country of Canada. I do not blindly follow any political philosophy and will vote against a party I supported if I feel they’ve gone in the wrong direction and need to be removed from office. I am neither republican nor democrat, conservative nor liberal. But I am a normal person who lives in this world, and more and more the McCain/Palin campaign are shaping a world that I don’t want to exist and this latest “terrorist” stunt made me want to speak my opinion.

Now back to movie stuff.
