We have more news for you guys today regarding the plans ABC has to reinstate their V franchise. The chatter now is that the series will be re-imagined. We get the following scoop from our friends at comnigsoon:
ABC is developing a new adaptation of “V,” the 1980s miniseries about alien lizards visiting Earth, reports Variety. “V” spawned a second miniseries and TV spin-off — written by “The 4400” co-creator/executive producer Scott Peters.
The new “V” will center on Erica Evans, a Homeland Security agent with an aimless son who’s got problems. When the aliens arrive, her son gloms on to them — causing tension within the family. As in the original “V,” several storylines will unfold simultaneously.
Well, we’ve been hearing different rumors and rumblings about a new V project for quite some time now. Of all of the news that has come out, this looks to be the worst. A homeland security agent’s wayward son causes family tensions by befriending the aliens? I hope that this is executed better than it sounds.
I was hoping for a V movie. The mini series scared the hell out of me as a kid and I’ d be curious to see them take the best parts of the original shows and boil them down into an original Hollywood production. Sadly, it looks like we’re going to get another made for television re-imagining. I’m not opposed to more TV V, but I want to see a movie kick it off. In a time where there isn’t a ton of sci fi films with aliens and spaceships; I consider this to be a missed opportunity. I have much less interest in a new TV series.
