Commander Rider Scott looks like he will get a crack at adapting the book The Forever War after wanting to do so for 25 years. We get the following scoop from our friends at comingsoon:
“I first pursued ‘Forever War’ 25 years ago, and the book has only grown more timely and relevant since,” Scott told the trade. “It’s a science-fiction epic, a bit of ‘The Odyssey’ by way of ‘Blade Runner,’ built upon a brilliant, disorienting premise.”
The book revolves around a soldier who battles an enemy in deep space for only a few months, only to return home to a planet he doesn’t recognize some 20 years later, Scott said.
I saw Body Of Lies this weekend and was disappointed. Ridley Scott continues his hit or miss antics and I have no expectations when I see his films now. They’re a roll of the dirty dice, and you hope for something good; but aren’t surprised by shit.
Perhaps Ridley will ride proud again in his most fertile genre of Science Fiction. Finally getting the rights to a project he has wanted to do for 25 years may bring out the best in him. 25 years is a long time to mull over what you would do with a project, and in his minds eye perhaps Ridley has practiced this into perfection.
Have any of you read The Forever War? If so – what do you think of it, as a book, and possible adaptation.
