We have a new Max Payne poster to show you guys today, we get the following image thanks to our friends at moviesonline:
Posters have become a good way for a film to get free press. Whenever one is released movie sites like ours throw them up and we talk about them. But it makes me stop and wonder, how many of these posters will actually hit the printing press. I should see how many posters are released online compared to how many are actually printed for consumption.
If the poster is only released online to pump the film – is it still a poster? I would say no. I would still call it an image, or wallpaper, but would personally avoid calling the image a poster. If I can’t hang it on my wall, it isn’t a poster to me.
I would like to see a return to less posters and just have one really kick ass painted one, or few quality pieces made with care rather than 10 bastardized photoshop abominations with floating heads. I suppose we are to blame more than anyone – we put it up, good or bad.
