The SAG looks like they will be calling upon the fed for mediation in hopes of avoiding a strike. We get the scoop today from the teamster caves of Yahoo:
The U.S. Screen Actors Guild said on Sunday its board had voted to ask that a federal mediator be brought into labor contract negotiations with Hollywood studios.
SAG said the mediator may be asked to send a strike authorization referendum to members if the arbitration process fails. A strike authorization would require 75 percent approval of members who vote. “We hope mediation will help move this process forward,” Screen Actors Guild’s national president, Alan Rosenberg, said in a statement.
We hope so too Rosenberg, we hope so too. Another strike would suck, and I certainly hoe it doesn’t happen. Not only does it mean problems for our entertainment output, but on a personal level – I hate writing about this shit.
Week after week, updates about no progress blah blah blah. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with someone striking, they have that right – but the fallout still sucks.
With luck the Federal mediators will be able to bring both sides to the table once again, smoke the peace pipe and sign a deal.
