I was never a huge fan of the first 2 Bourne movies. The second one was probably the worst example of “shaky cam” I’ve ever seen in a film that pretty much ruined all the action in the movie for me. However, the third film was exceptional. Yes the shaky cam was still there, but no where near as bad as it was in its predecessor.
Now right from the beginning they said that the third Bourne film would ABSOLUTELY be the last one hey would make. Matt Damon repeated this in interviews and on the talk show circuit when they were promoting the film. You can understand why too. The Bourne Untimatum was a fantastic end to the franchise. However… when your movie makes over $400 million world wide, you pretty much have to consider another one. Not to mention fans everywhere seems to be hungering for another sequel as well.
Well, in a recent interview, producer extrodinare Frank Marshall is suggesting that they may be ready to start shooting the next Bourne movie at the end of next summer. The following was taken from LatinoReview:
Bourne – you’ll be happy to know he thinks they’ve figured out the premise of the next movie and they hope to be filming at the end of next summer. He says they’re not rushing the script and they won’t make it till they have the script ready to go. He talks about summer 2010
Personally I very much welcome this news. Bourne was never a one arc story. The Bourne franchise is all about the character, and the character is very hot and very marketable. I see no reason in the world not to do another one… and I also see no way another Bourne film wouldn’t make at least $200 million domestically.
